We are here!!!! Santiago!!!!!

Santiago!!! We arrived yesterday, the 2nd, about 1:30pm...emotional, exciting yet it hasn´t really set in that we are finished walking...although our "journey" will not end. We have such wonderful memories that we will be thinking about this for a long time to come. We went to the pilgrims office upon arriving and received our "compostela¨", a certificate that we have completed the camino. Today we attended mass at noon...the pilgrim"s mass in the gorgeous cathedral to Santiago...we have run into lots of other pilgrims, all walking around with a smile on their faces. It will be sad to say goodbye to them, to Santiago and to Spain but we are looking forward to being back with our families. We are spending our last three nights in a Parador, a historic hotel...it was built in 1492 by Ferdinand and Isabella to care for the sick pilgrims who arrived in Santiago. It is a beautiful hotel today and it is taking good care of Gene and Susu. We will leave here Tuesday morning for Madrid where we will spend one night and then back in the USA on Wednesday. Again...thanks to all of you for your support, prayers, comments, etc. It has really meant alot. Gracias! love to all...gene and susu

    WOW!!! I have been checking in on your blog yesterday and today to see if you made it and VOILA!! You did it!!! AMAZING!! I am sure you are very emotional: happy and sad and everything in between. Have safe trip home and I'll see you both soon.
