hola again! i just wanted to add a little more as we ran out of time on our last blog. First of all we are having a great time! What we love the most is meeting people from all over. We bunked in orisson with two women our age from Australia and 2 french canadians. At dinner that night we sat next to a french couple and a german couple. Tonight in Zubiri we ate with our Australian friends again and 2 irish men. Everyone is so nice. nothing could have prepared us for what we have faced these past three days. It is hard, lots of ups but we think the steep downs are the hardest. We have a few aching bones and of course some blisters but hopefully we can get those under control. our flight over was perfect and our day in st. jean was wonderful, such a beautiful little town. our weather was gorgeous today, beautiful blue skies. we look forward to what tomorrow will bring. we love and miss you all....susu and gene

  1. Hi Girls,

Just got back from Wilmington and everyone sends their love. As you know the phone isn't working from this end so if the number has changed, please send it. Everything is great here and I like all the little notes in hidden places. Sounds like the people experience will be great for you!I am glad that the steepest part is behind you and hope that the blisters don't become a problem. I am sure you will feel much stronger after the first week. Gene, we have a very strong nible on the lot in Landfall. Keep you fingers crossed. Might be a done deal by mid-week!! We all love you (both) and are so proud and happy for you to have begun this dream!! Can't wait for more blog and to hear your voice.

For now I have to be "anonymous" or it comes out as "Gene and Susu".

    Love, Bob

  2. enjoy this most special part of the camino...it is truly a global community. make sure you get photos and people's email addresses so you can keep in touch with them and maybe even visit them someday! take care of those blisters and take a rest day in pamplona if you need to. the day after is another tough one, but you'll get to walk up the hill of wind turbines and see the cool sculpture of pilgrims. camino love to you both, peregrinas :)

  3. Hi Susu,
Glad to know you arrived there safely and that the first few days have been great. Avery now pretends she's packing and going to Spain like Gaga.
I'm back from Florida for my mom's 60th which was so much fun. Now we're gearing up for back-to-school. We meet the teachers and classmates Wed and Thurs of this week and then the first day of school is next Tuesday. I'll try to post some photos soon. I know you'll want to see those first day of school pictures.

We're proud of you. Stay safe on those top bunks with no rails!

  4. Hi,
I was thinking of you when we hiked out west. It was so beautiful and serene and I know you are having a similar experience and sharing it with everyone you meet. Keep on putting one foot in front of the other! Lisa

I want to know how the food is! What are the dinners like?? Eager to hear how today went - hope you made it all the way to Pamplona safely. Have you figured out how to use your cell phone yet? :) Love you both! Claire
